    About Welcome English Language Centre

Welcome English Language Centre is a community education charity based at Mercy House in Crosses Green, Cork. It has operated since 2000 and provides English lessons for registered immigrants and people in the asylum process who cannot afford tuition. The centre is not open to students travelling to Ireland for a commercial study programme or to learners already studying at another college. Applicants must normally be able to attend two hours daily from Monday to Thursday during the teaching period, which runs from September to mid-June. Places are limited, and the centre operates a waiting list. Volunteer tutors provide instruction, with the organisation reporting approximately 35 volunteer tutors and 140 learners attending per day. Applications are submitted directly through its website.
